French Toast.......There are so many different variations. Some are made from very think sliced bread and dipped in a heavy cream and egg mixture, Some are covered in fruit and some are stuffed with a sugary cream cheese. I like the good old fashioned Cinnamon French Toast. Plain and simple. I make an attempt to keep the carb and sugar count down when ever it does not effect the overall taste of food drastically. This is a good example of altering the calorie intake and not the taste.
For this Low Carb, Low Sugar, High Protein French Toast you will need the following.
9 slices of regular thin sliced bread. Preferably stale. Why stale??? It will hold together when it is dipped in the egg mixture. Fresh bread will fall apart.
6 eggs scrambled
Cinnamon to taste
Sugar free syrup to taste
Butter or margarine on top of the French Toast just before your serve.
Scramble all the eggs in a bowl large enough to fit a slice of bread.
Heat a non stick griddle to 350 degrees. If you do not have a Griddle you can prepare a pan with a non sick cooking spay or small amount of butter. Heat pan on medium or medium high heat.
Dip each slice of bread in the egg and immediately place on a griddle. Once the French Toast is cooked on one side flip to the other. Remove from Griddle and add cinnamon butter & syrup to taste.
